The Church of St. Edwin was registered and incorporated with the state on May 6, 1903. The first services were held in 1896 by a Bismarck missionary, Father Clement Dimpfl, O.S.B.
The first church building, an old Washburn schoolhouse, was purchased and used until 1954. At that time the Blackwater Church building was purchased and moved to the same location and used until 1988.
A new church was built in 1987-88 at 906 Northgate Road and was dedicated by Bishop John Kinney in August 2008.
Priests who have served the parish include Fathers Dimphl, Bonaventure Hansen, Joseph Stroemmel, William Blackbourne, Joseph Meiser, Ferdinand Schilowski, John Wingering, Sigmund Lica, George Kovitch, Thomas Dolan, Laurence Talty, John Owens, James Reardon, Theodore Gustin, Roger Synek, Ed Korte, Mathew Chakallakal, Frank Schuster and Patrick Cunningham.
